For six years, the Wanderers Foundation has been committed to providing free football opportunities for marginalised communities across Western Sydney.

From females and CALD and Indigenous communities to people with a disability, the Foundation’s programs have offered world-class coaching in state-of-the-art facilities, creating life-changing opportunities beyond the pitch.

DONATE NOW TO THE 2025 WANDERERS FOUNDATION CHRISTMAS APPEAL.

The impact of these programs extends far beyond football. In partnership with social impact experts Impact Institute, the Wanderers Foundation has identified the profound difference its initiatives make across Western Sydney:

  • Social Connection and Belonging – fostering friendships and cultural integration
  • Confidence and Self-Esteem – giving participants a sense of accomplishment
  • Health and Wellbeing – improving physical and mental health, promoting positive emotions
  • Skills and Capabilities – developing football and communication skills
  • Access to Services and Opportunities – creating pathways in football and careers, and inspiring role models
  • Economic Benefit – all programs are fee-free, supporting increased school attendance and job opportunities
  • Family and Community Impact – strengthening communities through volunteering and crime reduction

Despite reaching thousands each year, there is more to do. With Western Sydney’s population continuing to grow, access to football programs remains limited. The 2025 Wanderers Foundation Christmas Appeal invites members, fans, and businesses to help make a difference in the lives of those who need it most:

  • $30 assists a person with a disability to attend the Weekly Inclusive Football Program
  • $50 helps a First Nations participant join the Weekly Indigenous Football Program at Wanderers Fives
  • $100 enables a girl to access the elite pathway Girls Academy
  • $2,500 allows donors to become a Friend of the Wanderers Foundation, with exclusive benefits

Western Sydney Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson calls upon all those in the Wanderers network to give back this Christmas period.

“The Wanderers Foundation started with a simple belief, football can change lives. We wanted to create opportunities for those who often miss out, to give them a sense of belonging, achievement, and hope,” said Hudson.

“Christmas is a time for giving, for reflecting now what we have and sharing it with those who need it most. Every donation to the Christmas Appealhelps us provide more children, young people, and families with access to programs that can truly transform their lives.

“We’re proud of what we’ve achieved over the past six years, but there’s still more to do. With the support of our fans, members, and local donors, we can continue to create a positive, lasting change across Western Sydney. Together, we can ensure no one misses out on the joy and opportunity football brings.”

The Wanderers Foundation has launched a groundbreaking new Weekly Indigenous Program, creating a pathway for First Nations youth to engage with football, culture, and community in one of the most diverse regions in Australia.

Held at Wanderers Football Park, the program provides an opportunity for Indigenous participants to come together every week to learn new skills, improve their mental and physical wellbeing, and strengthen connections both on and off the pitch.

The launch began with a powerful Acknowledgement of Country and smoking ceremony led by Troy Dargan from the Kari Foundation, setting the tone for a program deeply grounded in respect, inclusion, and culture.

This 40-week initiative celebrates the rich Indigenous heritage of Western Sydney, where one in five First Nations people across Australia call home. While Indigenous athletes have long excelled in sports like AFL and NRL, they remain underrepresented in football. The Wanderers Foundation’s new program aims to change that.

Through expert coaching and mentorship, participants will build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and self-esteem, with pathways into opportunities such as the Wanderers Boys and Girls Academies and even future coaching roles.

But beyond football, the program’s true impact lies in fostering social connection, creating a space for young people to meet new friends, share experiences, and celebrate their culture together.

The Wanderers Foundation’s vision has been made possible thanks to the generosity of several key supporters.

The Foundation acknowledges Bibbulmun Fund, a fund of Fremantle Foundation, whose contribution through grant funding has played an instrumental role in bringing this program to life. Additional support has come from Direct Ergonomics, an Indigenous-owned office furniture business based in Artarmon, led by Donna and Tom, as well as Andy Cornish, Wanderers Foundation Development Club Chair and donor.

The Wanderers Foundation also extends its gratitude to the Kari Foundation, Clontarf Foundation, and Fresh Start Australia for helping spread awareness and engagement for the program across the community.

As the sessions get underway, the Weekly Indigenous Program stands as a reflection of what football, and the Wanderers community, does best: uniting people through sport, culture and shared purpose.

African Cup NSW 2025 officially kicks off this weekend at Western Sydney Wanderers Football Park, and football fans across the region are in for another thrilling season.

Running from 18 October through to 13 December, this celebrated community tournament promises five grand finals and a feast of multicultural football action that brings Western Sydney together like no other event.

Now in its annual October-to-December run, the African Cup NSW is more than just a football tournament—it’s a celebration of culture, unity, and community. Modeled as a miniature version of the African Nations Cup, it gives local players the chance to showcase their skills while fostering connections across communities.

This year, the tournament features 50 teams across all levels: 20 Senior Men’s teams, 10 Senior Women’s teams, and 20 Junior teams (U17/U15/U14). The Women’s category has grown significantly, reflecting the tournament’s soaring popularity and the rising standard of women’s football in the region.

In the Senior Men’s division, defending champions South Sudan are chasing a historic treble, but challengers Cape Verde are ready to disrupt the competition. Traditional powerhouses Ghana and Sierra Leone, former champions, are also in the mix, setting the stage for an intense showdown.

The Women’s competition is shaping up to be just as fierce. Ghana will be looking to retain their title, while former champions Sierra Leone aim to reclaim glory, and two-time finalists Egypt hope for a breakthrough. With every team reportedly in peak form, fans are in for edge-of-the-seat excitement.

The Juniors bring their own brand of unpredictable action, with families and local communities packing the stands every week. The tournament continues to grow in popularity, and the atmosphere at Wanderers Football Park promises to be electric from the first whistle.

With a growing digital presence, the African Cup NSW is now attracting national and global attention. Last year’s Grand Final racked up 110,000 social media views, and this year that number is expected to climb to around 300,000—a testament to the tournament’s broad appeal.

The organisers also extend their gratitude to Western Sydney Wanderers FC and the Government for their ongoing support, which has been vital to the tournament’s success and growth.

Football fans, mark your calendars, kick-off is this weekend, and the African Cup NSW 2025 promises to deliver community spirit, cultural celebration, and football action at its finest.

The vibrant energy of Sydney Olympic Park on a recent Tuesday evening carried more than just the echo of footballs being kicked, it carried a powerful message of inclusion, pride, and community spirit.

This was the setting of the Western Sydney Wanderers’ Weekly Inclusion Program, a free, 10-week after-school clinic designed for participants aged 5 to 18+, tailored specifically for individuals with disabilities.

Expertly delivered by qualified Wanderers coaches, the program fosters fitness, motor skills, social connection, and most importantly, fun in a supportive, judgement-free environment.

Joining in the activities were Wanderers players Josh Brillante and Jordan Holmes, who spent the evening playing alongside participants, offering encouragement, and sharing their experiences both on and off the field.

Their presence not only inspired the young players but also highlighted the club’s strong commitment to creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy football.
